Kyrie Irving, PG, SG - Boston Celtics Injury Updates Kyrie Irving

Irving was rolling last year when an injury cut his season short down the home stretch. As the focal point of the Celtics offense, Irving was scoring at will, knocking down 3s at a career high clip, and proving he could be an above average distributor, even as a shoot first point guard. While Irving will be ready to go to start the season, it's important to remember that his high level of production last year came with Gordon Hayward missing the entire season. Additionally, youngsters Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Terry Rozier played extremely well in the absence of the two stars. That means Bard Stevens should be free to rest Irving and Hayward as he sees fit in the hopes of making a title run. It should be good for Irving's long term prognosis, but could be tough on those expecting a repeat of last season.

John Wall, PG - Washington Wizards Injury Updates John Wall

Coming off a career best season in 2016-17, Wall battled injuries for most of last year, ultimately missing 41 games and seeing his production take a hit. If nothing else, the missed time allowed Bradley Beal and Otto Porter to continue to develop, meaning Wall might not be counted on to score as much. And the addition of Dwight Howard in the middle could help his assist numbers as well. In short, Wall might not get back to his 2016-2017 output, but he could easily wind up being more efficient without too much of a drop off.

Kemba Walker, PG - Charlotte Hornets Kemba Walker

On a rebuilding Hornets squad Walker is likely to log heavy minutes and perhaps the highest usage rate of his career this season. But it's hard to envision him logging production that greatly exceeds what we've seen in recent seasons. He's a virtual lock for 20+ points and 5+ assists per game, with 3s, steals, and historically solid percentages thrown in. With a weaker supporting cast, particularly on the offensive end, we could see Walker's field goal percentage take a hit, but without as many mouths to feed it should be offset by slight upticks in other counting stats.

Kyle Lowry, PG - Toronto Raptors Kyle Lowry

With DeMar DeRozan taking on an even bigger share of the offensive facilitation last season, Lowry saw many of his stats fall off. And for most owners the season was a bit of a disappointment relative to expectations. Part of it is likely age (he turns 33 this season), but he should enjoy a bounceback as the primary ball handler and facilitator with the swap of DeRozan for Leonard-a less ball dominant and more efficient player on offense.

Eric Bledsoe, PG, SG - Milwaukee Bucks Eric Bledsoe

Bledsoe isn't the player he was in Phoenix, having benefited statistically from being a ball dominant veteran guard on a weak Suns team. In Milwaukee he's at best the third option in the offense behind Giannis and Khris Middleton, and his stats suffered some in the early going. In the second half he was much stronger, as he seemed to be more integrated into what the Bucks were trying to do, and had a more defined role in the offense. Assuming that carries over into this season, he could be a bit of a steal as a multi-category contributor.

D'Angelo Russell, PG, SG - Brooklyn Nets D'Angelo Russell

Russell's minutes were limited for most of last season, as the Nets looked to protect their investment in the scoring point guard. He's going to continue to be a contributor in points, 3s, and assists, with a handful or rebounds thrown in and a solid free throw percentage. Heading into the 2018-2019 season there's some massive upside if he can manage to stay healthy. Brooklyn is in rebuild mode and enters the year with a rather thin roster, meaning Russell should be called upon to shoulder a heavy load this season if his health concerns remain in check.

Kris Dunn, PG, SG - Chicago Bulls Injury Updates Kris Dunn

Dunn enters his third NBA season as the presumptive starter at the point for the Bulls. While he missed 30 games last season, Dunn has showed that he's more than capable of running the offense when given the chance. With the exception of blocks and 3s, there's a lot of production to be expected, including as an under the radar source of steals. Additionally, surrounded by so many scorers it wouldn't be all that surprising to see the assist numbers rise for Dunn this season on an improving Bulls team.

Goran Dragic, PG, SG - Miami Heat Injury Updates Goran Dragic

The development of some of the younger wings on the Heat led to a drop off in minutes, and subsequently a downtick across the categories for Dragic last season. That said, he's still the offensive engine for this team and should have the ball in his hands more than anyone else most nights. At 32 years old he may have lost a step and it wouldn't be surprising if the Heat kept his minutes static from last season or even if we saw a slight downtick. Still, he's an across the board contributor and the starting point guard on what should be a playoff team.

Trae Young, PG - Atlanta Hawks Trae Young

Young believers think he has the ability to be a Steph Curry-type, but there are bound to be growing pains for the Hawks new point guard. In year one he should contribute scoring, threes, assists, and maybe a few steals with an excellent free throw percentage. That said, he's going to turn the ball over a ton until he acclimates to the NBA game, and his scoring efficiency is likely to be a poor. Still, there's some upside here on a bad team that is going to give him plenty of playing time and allow him to sink or swim. The challenge for fantasy owners will be which one of those comes first.

Darren Collison, PG, SG - Indiana Pacers Darren Collison

Collison is the Pacers starting point guard going into the season, but it's ball dominant two guard, Victor Oladipo that the offense runs through. And while Collison managed to average a dozen points with nearly 1.5 threes per game to go with five assists, that was without Tyreke Evans, another ball dominant guard, in the mix. At the same time, the Pacers drafted point guard Aaron Holliday, who may be the second best defensive guard on the team behind Oladipo, and who will likely push for minutes by midseason.
